The mission of The Rivalry is to showcase the PGA TOUR stars of today and tomorrow in a highly competitive golf tournament. The Rivalry will highlight the excitement of collegiate sports with the highest caliber golf in a fun, but demanding format- with bragging rights on the line.
As a fully-sanctioned PGA TOUR Challenge Season Event, the PGA TOUR wants this tournament to succeed. The TOUR agrees that pairing collegiate stars with established TOUR players is a great way to begin to develop the next generation of golfers while creating great fan excitement, and has pledged it's complete support to ensure the event's success.
Any event involving collegiate athletics must comply with all regulations that govern them and our team has experience and insight that ensures compliance. The Rivalry was conceived by a NCAA college golf coach, full cognizant and respectful of NCAA rules and regulations.
Combining the lure of watching top-tier PGA TOUR professionals with getting to know up-and-coming collegiate players, while rooting for one's alma mater is truly a unique concept.
The strong relationship between the collegiate golf coaches and their respective school's influential alumni, boosters and current sponsors will also be invaluable to the success of The Rivalry.
The Rivalry will attract a greater interest than other Challenge Season events given that it will appeal to college students, seasoned golf lovers, supportive alumni and golf fans everywhere.
Most PGA TOUR professionals participate in few events after the traditional TOUR season ends in October, making the dates of The Rivalry an opportune time to attract a stellar field.
National television exposure is rare in collegiate golf, even for major university golf powerhouses, and will be a powerful inducement to ensure the participation of top colleges and players.
There will be a clinic for the sponsors and boosters before the start of The Rivalry Pro-Am. The clinic will feature select professionals from Rival schools that will be informative yet entertaining.
The tournament will provide private and shared corporate hospitality facilities in accordance with a standard PGA TOUR event, but the excitement will be at the Rivalry Tailgate Area, where cuisine from all over the country can be enjoyed in a collegiate atmosphere.
Select coaches will be asked to participate in a "Rivalry Roundtable" (similar to ESPN's College Game Day). There will be a "host" along with three other coaches and/or celebrity guests. The Rivalry Roundtable will be part of the early TV coverage on both days of the event.
Marching bands will be part of the Rivalry Roundtable experience and will play prior to each competitive round.
University mascots will be part of the entire event and will be a great, fun addition to the weekend play.
The University Center will be a centralized tent that offers VIP service to patrons, including food and beverage, seating, television coverage and more.
Hospitality tents will be offered to all participating universities for an additional fee. These hospitality tents will provide a great atmosphere for alumni to reconnect with their friends and universities. All tents will be university themed and will provide first class service.
A vendor booth row will be uniquely created to provide a "store front" look for participating corporate sponsors and/or universities. This village will allow the sponsors to showcase their products and ideas to fans throughout the event.
